Contextual Research

This is MagDesk: a product to provide college students with the Ideal Study Experience to make them their most accomplished self.
Over the course of 10 weeks, a collaboration of different majors researched the Ideal Study Space Experience, specifically targeting college students. MagDesk is the result of this Contextual Research project, which examined the physical, emotional, and environmental contexts of college students.
We employed research techniques such as sensory cue collaging, intentional in-depth interviews, and cultural probes to collect nuanced qualitative and quantitative data.
Using the Lextant framework, we concluded that students want a study space that makes them feel accomplished. In supporting this feeling of accomplishment, they also need to feel prepared, in control, and focused.
